The introduction of the Switch 2 allowed Nintendo to begin porting games from more advanced consoles into their Nintendo Classics service. One of the most highly requested games and the launch title for the Nintendo GameCube is Luigi’s Mansion, the first in the series starring Mario’s brother. Today, Nintendo revealed that the game will finally be available to play with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack on October 30th, just in time for Halloween.

Luigi’s Mansion follows Luigi himself as he explores his mysterious new mansion and searches for his missing brother. Along the way, he is horrified to find that ghosts have taken over the entire building and trapped Mario, making Luigi the only one who can save the day. Given his tendency toward cowardice, the ghosts provide the perfect challenge for the green plumber, now armed with the Poltergust 3000 to suck up his foes. As he progresses through the mansion, Luigi will be forced to confront his fears, light up the rooms, and save his heroic brother.

The game consists of areas that must be cleared of ghosts before Luigi can move on. The massive mansion contains many rooms, each with ghosts that can damage the player or come with unique requirements to defeat. Most of the time, players will be using a combination of the flashlight and the Poltergust to stun and then capture enemies, who will try to escape at the same time. Players will also make use of Professor E. Gadd’s Game Boy Horror to map out the mansion, discover unlockable rooms, and track ghosts throughout the various rooms.

With the introduction of Luigi’s Mansion on the Nintendo Switch 2, all three games in the series will now be playable on the console, marking the first time that was ever possible. Many fans are hopeful that this marks a trend of older series becoming available on the Switch 2. Nintendo has also announced that the game’s music will be coming to Nintendo Music. The game is coming to the GameCube on Nintendo Classics on October 30th.
