I know what you’re thinking…
It does NOT come out on a full moon. Bummer.
Coming next month on March 4th for the Wii U, Nintendo fans will officially be able to get their hands on The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD remake.
Initially one of the more unpopular Zelda games due an odd combination of the era of its release, the leap in tone from light hearted, happy Windwaker to dark, Thriller Twilight Princess–plus, who will ever forget the whole GameCube VS. Wii debacle with its mirrored gameplay having many fans screaming angrily towards the heavens, “A right handed Link?!”
However, enough time has passed that some have come to terms with the game, and there are even others who hold the game in high regards. Certainly, many have a soft spot for Link’s partner in Wolfy-crime, Midna. (Developers are capitalizing on this Midna nostalgia with an exclusive amiibo bundle alongside the game, more here).
With this HD re-release, Nintendo hopes to bring back both revisiting and new players:
When The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD launches exclusively for the Wii U console on March 4, it will feature many upgrades that are sure to please fans playing through the adventure again, or newcomers who are experiencing the game for the first time.
Aside from a boost in graphics and sound, developers brought new items to tempt players back into Hyrule. Players can utilize what’s called the Ghost Lantern–a curious and eerie item that will glows in the presence of a Poe, giving players an easier time during the Poe soul-retrieving quest.
For those who think they have done all they can in Twilight Princess, well, Nintendo is raising the stakes! New the game, Hero Mode, will be a grueling new mode which can be selected when starting a new game–so no need to do an entire playthrough just to get to the good stuff. In this mode, players will “take double the normal damage and there are no heart drops.” Good luck, veterans!
Otherwise, Nintendo went out of their way to touch up many of our favorite moments and cutscenes in the game–for instance: Link riding Epona across the Eldin Bridge, or Wolf Link howling at the moon. And they didn’t just beef up the cutscenes, but gameplay as well:
Using the Wii U GamePad controller, players can easily access their map and inventory at all times using the intuitive touch screen, as well as quickly transform into a wolf with one easy tap.
Another nice perk is that players can find many cool new stickers and swag around Hyrule for their Mii’s and use them inside the Miiverse. With this alongside all of the other content coming out of Nintendo headquarters, it seems they are coming into 2016 with a running start.
You can purchase your copy of Twilight Princess HD for the Wii U starting March 4th, with the option to start off in Hero Mode right off the bat!
