This is the first Partner Showcase not to be labeled as a Nintendo Direct Mini, despite not being the longest, with the June 2022 Partner Showcase sitting at 26 minutes. This suggests that this will be the only Direct for February, a month that has had a full first-party Direct for the past three years. This follows a series of leaks and rumors suggesting some form of February Direct.
Beyond the upcoming Princess Peach: Showtime and the remaster of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Nintendo’s first-party lineup for 2024 is unknown, and it looks like fans will have to wait a little while longer for announcements on that front. With reports suggesting that the Switch’s successor will launch in early 2025, it is possible that this will be a light year for the console as developers move on to newer hardware.
Though it won’t feature titles published by Nintendo themselves, there is still room for large announcements. The last Partner Direct in June 2022 featured trailers for a Monster Hunter Rise expansion, a port of NieR:Automata, Sonic Frontiers, and ports of three Persona games. Many will be hoping for more news on Hollow Knight: Silksong, but at the very least some new Switch ports can be expected before the console retires.
