Nintendo Announces A 1-2 Switch Sequel And No One Is Happy

Nintendo announced a sequel to 2017’s 1-2 Switch Friday morning, leaving many Nintendo fans confused and frustrated. Development for the upcoming Everybody 1-2 Switch! was first reported in July 2022 by Fanbyte, where it had been stuck in “limbo” due to it play-testing poorly, with many testers calling the mini games “boring” and “tedious.”

Nintendo has yet to release any details on what players can expect from the game besides alluding to its new mini-games involving “objects like balloons and aliens” on its eShop listing. Gameplay footage was also absent from he announcement and the eShop listing, increasing wariness from fans about the game’s performance. 1-2 Switch, despite being one of Nintendo’s highest sold titles, was hit with waves of mixed reviews. Unsurprisingly, expectations for Everybody 1-2 Switch! are at an all time low.

Nintendo fans took to Twitter to express their confusion on Everybody 1-2 Switch!’s announcement, considering the game’s reportedly poor play-testing results in 2022. Additionally, many fans were simply baffled that out of all games in the Nintendo Switch’s history, 1-2 Switch was given a sequel. Twitter user Velvet64 exemplified that fact by pointing out 1-2 Switch and Everybody 1-2 Switch!’s shorter “game gap” compared to other popular Nintendo franchises.

Regardless, more information on Everybody 1-2 Switch! will likely be later leading up to its June 30th release date. Players will be able to play using Joy-Con controllers and other devices, similar to the JackBox Party games. Pre-orders for Everybody 1-2 Switch! start today, with the digital and physical releases listed for $29.99.
