Ninja Theory recently released an Xbox One version of its acclaimed adventure RPG Hellblade, game that deals heavily with issues related to mental health. Back in October 2017, in recognition of World Mental Health Day, Ninja Theory raised and donated $80,000 to UK charity Rethink Mental Illness. Now, the developer has revealed the next step in carrying on its tradition of using success to support charities.
In the Xbox version’s first week of launch, it sold over 50,000 copies; in celebration of that, the developer further resolved to donate a total of $50,000 to the charity Mental Health America. $25,000 of that will be donated now, after the success of week one’s sales, and the other 25k will be donated when Hellblade‘s Xbox version hits 100k sales.
The original goal was to hit 100k units sold in Hellblade‘s first week, which didn’t end up happening. Nevertheless, Ninja Theory committed to its goal of donating $50,000. Mental Health America, a charity focused on promoting mental health, responded happily to Ninja Theory’s announcement:
