Publisher Dotemu and developer The Game Kitchen have recently announced the release of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound on July 31st. The game is set to release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox, according to a press release.
Nina Gaiden: Ragebound is a dual ninja adventure in which you fight against a demonic invasion. The gameplay is that of an old-school 2D side-scrolling action platformer but with a more modern polish and greater precision. The game is still intended to be a pick-up-and-play action style of game, according to the PlayStation website.
The story is inspired by previous titles in the Ninja Gaiden franchise; this time the story begins following Ryu Hayabusa’s journey into America. He’s there to honor his father’s will when the barrier between the human world and the demon world shatters, leading demons to invade the home of Ryu Hayabusa. A young ninja of the village, Kenji Mozu, helps to defend the village but finds traditional martial arts training to not be enough against the threats he currently faces. So, he abandons taboo forming an alliance with the Black Spider Clan in order to defeat the Demon Lord.
The official trailer for Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound showcases gameplay from the game and allows fans to hear the newly designed soundtrack. Though short, it gives a taste of the action and stunning pixel art that will be a part of the game. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that the guest composers are Keiji Yamagishi, Ryuichi Niita, and Kaori Nakabai, who should offer a blast from the past as they are the original composers for the Ninja Gaiden franchise. They are currently led by Sergio De Prado, which has produced stunning results.
The game is already available on Steam to be wishlisted, and a demo of the game will be available from June 9th to June 16th, following the Steam Next Fest.
