Nine Parchments Set for December Release

Frozenbyte’s Nine Parchments is getting an Xbox One release soon, with updated 4k graphics. The game features a fast-paced play style filled with fantasy and battles on a magical journey. Players become wizard students who use their powers and spell casts to fight their enemies and protect their team mates along the way.

Magic in the game is quite flashy and spells come in different categories “from channeled beam spells which can be combined, to projectile spells like burning fireballs or electrifying curtains of lighting. Some spells can even be thrown across the air and slammed on top of enemies.” Spells can have an element attached to them as fire, ice, lightning, steam, life, and death but some have no element classification at all.  No matter the spells, players can blast their foes while certain enemies cast their own flashy spells, using transmutation circles or area-of-effect attacks. Others execute more physical moves such as the purple ram monster who simply charged at opponents in the trailer.

Wizards can use spells, but they’ll need other skills to defeat tricky foes. Skill trees and leveling up will help players get the upper hand they need in battle depending on what skill points they put in their trees to access special abilities. Players can choose from three skill trees and each wizard student has a preference for what skills will work best or be more powerful for them individually.

Every magical journey wouldn’t be complete without finding treasure; chests are “throughout the levels and grant you experience and can occasionally contain fashionable wizard gear like hats.” Wizards also need their staves which grants special abilities and spells for wizards to use in addition to abilities obtained from skill trees. Staves even have the potential to unlock content by “granting players access to special areas and quests,” which gives more incentive to collect more staves.

Nine Parchments is a 32 level journey that can be played alone, online, or locally with up to four friends using the co-op mode. The game will be released for Xbox One consoles in December.
