The Evolution Championship Series (EVO) is underway, and we’ve already seen some impressive outings in the biggest fighting game tournament of the year. The number of attendees is already much higher than the previous years, and with seven fighting games being represented, the amount of participants grew as well. The tournament began on Friday, August 3, and will continue until Sunday, August 5. If you haven’t already, you can check out the full schedule here.
One of those games, Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle, had just reached the conclusion of its tournament, with a thrilling Grand Finals bout between Heiho and Fame96. After nearly 20 minutes of nail biting combat, Heiho clinched the victory and the Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle EVO 2018 Championship. You can check out the full match here:
However, everyone in attendance was in for a special treat. Immediately after the match, Arc System Works took to the stage to make a huge announcement which came in the form of a reveal trailer. They revealed the next batch of DLC characters for Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle, all nine of them. In addition, the best part about this is that all nine DLC fighters are releasing on August 6, which is tomorrow! The Characters Packs, in this case 4, 5, and 6, will include fighters from famous game series such as, Blazblue, Persona, and Under Night In-Birth, which are all represented in Blazbue: Cross Tag Battle. Coming in from Blazblue will be Izayoi, Mai Natsume, and Nine The Phantom. Lastly from Under Night In-Birth is Merkava, Yuzuhira, and Mika. Arc System Works also, albeit very briefly, teased a new franchise that may join the fighting game which can be seen at the end of the reveal trailer. No further details were provided, however their have been rumors going around that it could be fighters from the Senran Kagura series, as audio files were discovered in the beta back in May.
