Night in the Woods Now Available on iOS After a Year Long Wait

Night in the Woods has just been made available for sale on the App Store with no warning from its developers, Infinite Fall and Finji. First announced four years ago in 2017, it has already been released on PS4, Xbox, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. Finally the developers announced it for iOS last year in October 2020, but there has been nothing more said about it until today. Without warning the game popped up for sale on the App Store, first found by AppUnwrapper on the App Store and announced on their Twitter. The surprise release created quite a stir among its followers.

The game takes place in small, country town and is inhabited by smaller country animals such as rabbits, foxes, and racoons. You play from the perspective of a black 19-year-old cat, Mae, who is returning home to the small town of Possum Springs. Upon reaching her destination the cat realizes something is amiss and heads into the woods in order to investigate further. Gameplay mostly involves exploring Possum Springs and the forest and meeting new characters. However there are some minigames sprinkled throughout such as an old school computer game called DemonTower, as well as a few bosses, and battles.

Night in the Woods is only available on the Apple Store for $5.99. It is not available at all on Android, and there is no news as to whether or not it will become available in the future. However, the iOS version is much cheaper than the Nintendo Switch and the console versions, so it is not a bad way to enjoy the game if you haven’t tried it out yet. The game has already won the Seamus McNelly Grand Prize at the Independent Games Festival as well as the BAFTA Game Award for Narrative in 2018, so the app is likely going to be a good investment if you are in the market for a great new mobile game to play. Here is the link to the App Store if you are interested in playing this adventure game.
