Niantic has said that they’re going to release new update for Pokémon Go soon. Android version 0.61.0 and iOS version 1.31.0 are “in the process of being updating” but there is no indication of how soon “soon” is.
The update is said to include a new language option, Traditional Chinese. Bug and text issues are being fixed. The final change is the Pokémon collection screen’s scroll bar has been changed. It seems like a weird thing to change, a scroll bar, but okay, I guess.
The previous update, released March 21 implemented a Pokéstop challenge, where if you visited the same Pokéstop for seven days in a row, you’d receive an evolution stone, called the First Pokéstop of the Day Challenge. Previously, if you visited the first Pokéstop for seven days in a row you received 2,500 XP and other items for the Photo Disc.
There was Water-Type event that has already happened. If you explored areas that are surrounded by water, you could find some of the water types that you could find in the Johto region, as well as the Kanto Water/Ice type Lapras, Ash’s traveling companion when he was exploring the Orange Islands in the anime. The event also released Shiny Pokémon, Pokémon that are colored differently that they normally are, for instance, the Red Gyarados in the Johto Region. Players were concerned that the Shiny Pokémon would go away at the end of the event, but that does not seem to be the case.
Niantic has released multiple updates since Pokémon Go‘s initial release in July 2016. Johto Pokémon were officially released in February. Trading will arrive sometime this year and PvP battles are also being made. To top everything off, at the end of the year, legendary Pokémon are said to be coming. It’s unknown which ones will be coming, but it will bring the main series game feel to the mobile app.
