The Legendary Pokémon Suicune will be returning to Pokémon Go for a special Raid Day event this Saturday, August 17, from 4 to 7 PM local time. It’s a very rare Pokémon to appear in Raids, making this event that much more special. Pokémon Go players around the world unlocked this opportunity by their participation in the recent Pokémon Go Fest in Yokohama, Japan, this past weekend. While players physically present at the event had to work together to complete a certain number of Research Tasks before the end of the festival to unlock bonuses for themselves, players around the world were also challenged to complete a number of Research Tasks for their in-game team.
Congrats on unlocking all Blanche’s Global Challenge bonuses, Trainers!
Your hard work also earned you the chance to battle the Legendary Pokémon Suicune in raids on August 17 at 4 p.m. local time. If you’re lucky, you may even encounter a Shiny Suicune! pic.twitter.com/TIHQoUuaGH— Pokémon GO (@PokemonGoApp) August 10, 2019
The Pokémon Go Global Challenge wasn’t the only thing made available for all players during the event. Special Pokémon who would spawn in higher numbers at the Pokémon Go Fest spawned elsewhere around the world, too. There was a general increase in Water-type Pokémon spawns, as well as Pikachu appearing with various accessories as seen in previous in-game events. For example, Santa hat Pikachu and detective hat Pikachu both made a reappearance in worldwide spawns, in addition to several other types.
Once all teams completed the number of tasks necessary, everyone earned bonuses lasting from August 13 to 20. Team Instinct, Mystic, and Valor members will each receive extra Stardust bonuses depending on their team, as well as players physically present at the Pokémon Go Fest. The biggest bonus, of course, will be Suicune Raid Day. Not only will Suicune spawn in five-star Raid Battles, but lucky players may even encounter a Shiny Suicune.
To participate in a Raid Battle, players need a Raid Pass, which they can acquire for free once per day by spinning a Photo Disc at a Pokémon Gym. Normally players can only hold one Raid Pass at a time, but during the Raid Day event they will be able to hold up to five at once. After that, grab some friends and head to the nearest Pokémon Gym where a Suicune Raid is happening and get battling!
