NFL Games Coming To Twitch

The NFL has officially announced that they have renewed their streaming deal with Amazon Prime. Within the announcement, the NFL stated they would “collaborate on additional NFL content opportunities and enhanced fan viewing experiences, including making the games available on Twitch’s interactive social video service.”

This means that fans will now be able to view up to 11 NFL games on Twitch this year thanks to this deal. The NFL has renewed their partnership with Amazon Prime to broadcast Thursday Night Football games for the upcoming 2018 and 2019 seasons. It is also said that all 11 games to be broadcasted will be available to Amazon Prime members and on Twitch without the need for an Amazon Prime subscription.

The broadcast will begin on September 27, with the first game being the Los Angeles Rams against the Minnesota Vikings. While Twitch has already had a partnership with the NBA to broadcast games for their minor basketball organization, the ability to now stream professional football games is certainly a nice addition. Brian Rolapp, Chief Media and Business Officer for the NFL, also commented on their excitement to be working with Amazon again for the renewed deal to bring more viewership to their streams.

“Amazon was a tremendous partner for Thursday Night Football in 2017 and as we continue our mission of delivering NFL games to fans whether they watch on television or on digital platforms, we are excited to work with them again for the next two seasons. Having over 100 million Amazon Prime members provides a massive platform to distribute Thursday Night Football digitally, not only to our fans in the United States but also around the world.”

With this new development, it seems like they are bringing the streams to 100 million Amazon Prime members worldwide in over 200 countries and territories. This leads to wonder if other sports organizations will soon follow suit.
