Next God of War To Tackle Norse Mythology

Now that Kratos has killed all of Greek mythology in prequels, sequels and ports, the battlefield has gotten a little bit barren. Kratos needs a new ancient religion to systematically murder in various spectacular ways. And what mythology can better match his nondescript rage than Norse mythology. According to a report by IGN and some credible leakers, that might be where the series is heading.

Word of the possible change came on April 4th when Shinobi602, who leaked Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay, sent out these tweets teasing the new direction of the franchise:

It was from here that NerdLeaks, responsible for leaking leaked Pokémon Sun and Moon, got involved. By bypassing a password protected section of Sony Santa Monica artist’s website, NerdLeaks got access to concept art for the potential game. The artwork showed off various environments and what looks like a low resolution model of a bearded Kratos welding an ax instead of his traditional Blades of Chaos.

All of the images were originally posted on Imgur but now the album, the artist’s site and NerdLeaks  have been taken down. However the images can still be seen on NeoGAF.

Sony has yet to comment on the leak, although the fact that NerdLeaks is no longer a thing and the artist’s website has been taken down does say something.

Perhaps we’ll hear something about God of War 4 at E3 this year. For now, there is no official word on another entry into the God of War saga.
