We know that there are multiple Assassin’s Creed games in development. There is Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which will be a live service game. It will be an outline platform that will include multiple historical settings that will evolve over time. We also learned that another Assassin’s Creed title was in development. The game, codenamed Rift is reported to have a smaller scope than the recent entries and will focus heavily on stealth gameplay, going back to the roots of the franchise. The game was expected to come later this year but was delayed into 2023. Today, a new leak has revealed more details about the game, including the title, Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
YouTuber j0nathan released a new video revealing the details. However, not everything is true. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who broke the news of Mirage’s existence, a person familiar with the game says that some parts of the leak are true while others are not.
A person familiar tells me parts of this new Assassin’s Creed leak are true (such as the name and the other stuff Bloomberg has already reported: spring 23, Baghdad, back to AC basics) and other parts are not (“multiple cities to explore”) https://t.co/qmM6UZtKnG

According to j0nathan, the game is called Assassin’s Creed Mirage and will feature Basim from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. We will play as Basim in his youth as a thief until he meets the Hidden Ones aka Assassins. The game will take place between 860 and 870 in Baghdad, during the Anarchy in Samarra. There will be multiple cities to explore, separated by desert and rivers like it was in Assassin’s Creed. The game is designed to be a stripped-down version compared to the most recent entries taking heavy inspiration from the first game. Several RPG elements have been removed such as no dialogue choices, no gender option, and no level system. The gameplay will be slightly different from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, less raw with new animations. Eagle Vision will be back along with the ability to use the bird to survey the area. Basim will use a string dagger to eliminate opponents. Visions of Loki will show how Loki manifested into Basim’s body and consumed him. Based on Mirage’s work, Ubisoft will reuse a large part of the assets for a remake of the first Assassin’s Creed. The remake will be part of a Season Pass which will include another DLC in Constantinople (when Basim meets Sigurd). This will be released a few months later from Assassin’s Creed Mirage which is set to be released in Spring 2023.
Schreier’s source says that the name, release date, Baghdad setting, and back to Assassin’s Creed basics approach is true. The source says that there will not be multiple cities to explore.
Ubisoft is planning to reveal what’s next for the company and the future of Assassin’s Creed with Ubisoft Forward which is set to return in a few weeks on September 10.
