New Witcher 3 Mod Downgrades to 3DS Style Graphics

Mods have been key to gaming lately. Mods for games like Left 4 Dead and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been really popular in the gaming community. The latest mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt works as a downgrade from the original graphics, but could still be popular among gamers. The latest mod downgrades its graphics to Nintendo 3DS style of graphics.

Reddit user Linas_008 explains how the mod can be implemented. He says that you can manually set the TextureMipBias to value 8 in order to experience a seemingly 3DS version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on your Steam account. A mod website will explain how to implement mods in-game, though it is important to be wary of what you put in your game via the internet.

A popular mod allowed the player to play as Ciri, Triss or Yennefer. Gamers who enjoyed playing games in which you could play as a female will enjoy this mod, as the player no longer has to play as the main protagonist Geralt. The mod was created by NexusMod user ParKan. The new protagonist would still have the Geralt’s body movements as well as his voice, which makes the mod even more humorous.

Another mod allowed the player to play the game in first person, similar to The Elder Scroll: Skyrim. CD Projekt RED forum user SkacikPL had been working on the mod and released the following YouTube video showing some gameplay of a first person Witcher 3 experience. An original version of the mod was a little nauseating, as the camera is seemingly attached to the head with head bobbing easily noticeable. The newer version, shown below, is much improved with head bobbing less noticeable.

The game of the year version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in August with the expansion packs Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. A fourth installment of the series hasn’t been completely ruled out, but it isn’t expected to release anytime in the near future.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
