Valorant fans have been vying for the release of a new character ever since the sentinel Deadeye was first teased by Riot Games. The agent was set to be a sharpshooter, with a sleek and suave look. Fans had been granted several hints about the new character, from hints to teases, to even data-mined leaks following the “Year One Anthem” video. The longer the community waited with bated breath, the more the speculation grew. Then, finally, on October 29th, Riot finally released the hero, revealing the new sentinel agent: Chamber.
According to Riot, Chamber is based off of the “gentleman assassin” trope, designed specifically to be as suave as possible. His gameplay focuses on “highly lethal, pinpoint accuracy,” aided by his arsenal of custom weapons and gadgets. His custom weapons include a pistol and a golden sniper rifle, each costing credits for a full mag during gameplay.
That feeling was the core of his thematic: the idea that the distance of the shot, the breeze in the wind, the type of powder in the ammo, all these fine details must be taken into account to land the perfect hit.

What Riot Games wanted to do with Chamber was take a different approach to the sentinel role, according to character producer John Goscicki. “Early on, our thought process wrapped around the idea of ‘someone that bunkers down, and holds a location by getting frags.”
Chamber’s kit echoes this sentiment. Besides his custom weapons, the agent can place a trap that scans for enemies and place two teleport anchors on the ground. These abilities were revealed via data miners who were quick to investigate the new hero post-announcement. They are as follows:
Primary Ability- Trademark: A trap that scans for enemies. When an enemy comes in visible range of the trap, they get slowed.
Secondary Ability – Headhunter: Equips a heavy pistol.
Tertiary Ability – Rendezvous: Players can place two teleport anchors on the ground. If they are in range of one, they can activate the ability to teleport to the other anchor, wherever it may be.
Ultimate Ability – Tour De Force: Ability that grants the player a powerful sniper rifle that kills enemies with a single direct body shot. The corpse of the dead player will then slow other enemies, similar to the Trademark ability.
With Chamber’s release date set to be the beginning of Episode Three, Act Three this November, fans will have to wait and see if the new hero will integrate well into the game, or flop like the last released hero, KAY/O.
Chamber and Patch 3.10 will be coming to Valorant this November 16th, 2021.
