A new update for Cadence of Hyrule – Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda, a Zelda-themed spin-off of the popular indie rhythm-dungeon crawler Crypt of the NecroDancer, has been released. A Reddit user and Crypt of the Necrodancer speedrunner by the name of wilarseny uploaded the patch notes to Reddit a week ago, listing every change in the update. It includes a few bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and new features.
The new features include leaderboard categories for co-op play, achievements, and a “Beat Rumble” option, which makes the player’s controller vibrate along with the game’s beat and could help them stay on-beat while playing. Though none of these are major additions or changes, they offer players new goals to achieve and alternative ways to experience the game.
The biggest bug fix tackled a problem involving enemies taking extra turns when the song was looped in levels. Some of the other bugs were “game-breaking exploits”, as they gave the player an unfair advantage against their computer enemies. For example, players could previously pick up bombs even after they exploded. There was also a shortcut to defeat Ganon; if a player skipped a cutscene between two of the phases of the battle, his health would not be restored as it would’ve normally been during the cutscene, thus allowing players to take him down more quickly and easily.
A lot of other and smaller elements of the game were tweaked, removed, or added, making this quite the update for the young crossover title. It first launched on the Nintendo Switch earlier this summer in June, following much anticipation and speculation about its release date. It was developed by Brace Yourself Games, the developers behind the original Crypt of the NecroDancer, and features 25 remixed songs from the Zelda franchise.
