Today, publisher Square Enix has announced Crowd Choice, a new extension for Twitch that lets viewers vote on every major choice in a game live. Broadcasters will get to choose whether to view their suggestions before they make a decision, or put the viewers in control of the story. The Crowd Extension for Twitch will debut next week with Life is Strange: True Colors.

It’s easy for both Twitch viewers and streamers to get Crowd Choice as part of the experience for a game. Viewers just activate the extension and go and will allow them to vote on nail-biting decisions and crucial choices, live, as the game is played. Twitch broadcasters need to connect their Square Enix Members account to a supported game and then activate the Crowd Choice mode in a supported game like Life Is Strange: True Colors from the ‘Live Stream’ menu in the game’s settings.
There are two options that broadcasters can choose from with full control of the options and poll timing. Full Democracy is where the wisdom of the crowd automatically decides all major choices. Suggestion allows broadcasters to see what the viewers want to choose before they get to make the decision. Square Enix says that “Crowd Choice offers a great opportunity to replay narrative games like Life Is Strange: True Colors in a fresh and unpredictable way.”
The Crowd Choice Twitch extension is available to install now and can be used with Crowd Choice enabled games when Life Is Strange: True Colors releases on September 9 at 9 am PT / 5 pm BST / 6 pm CET and at 2 am AEST on September 10. Life Is Strange: True Colors will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam. GeForce Now, and Google Stadia. The game is also coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. Life Is Strange: True Colors is not the only game from the Life Is Strange series that will be releasing soon. The Wavelengths DLC is coming at the end of the month on September 30 and the Life Is Strange Remastered Collection featuring Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before The Storm will be released in early 2022.
