4Divinity, the company that will be publishing a game called The Defiant, has recently uploaded a new trailer for the game. This trailer reveals a good amount of gameplay over the full three minutes of the video, and gives some more context of the setting the game will take place. Here’s some of what was shown in the new gameplay trailer for The Defiant:
Set within the War of Resistance between in China, The Defiant will be seen from the perspective of the Nationalist Revolutionary Army (NRA) and their side of the conflict. The trailer, alongside the description of the video, revealed much about the gameplay that players will be experiencing for themselves. Players will be able to choose from dozens of guns, consisting of assault rifles, pistols, machine guns, and so on, as they traverse and take part in the historical battles of this East Asian conflict.
The promotion of The Defiant appears primarily emphasize the history of the conflict, and how players will be able to experience it for themselves in video game format. In the gameplay trailer, some cutscenes, that are likely from the campaign mode, were shown alongside the action-packed gameplay. These cutscenes will likely take place and make reference to a number of real-world historical conflicts that occurred during the War of Resistance. According to The Defiant‘s Steam page, the game will have both single-player and co-op. Currently, it’s unknown if the gameplay shown in the trailer was either of these game modes.
Not much else is known about The Defiant as of now, apart from all the information released on the game’s Steam page. There’s no official release date as of now, and considering that, it’s clear that Haotang Technology, the developer behind The Defiant, are taking their time to do their homework and truly know the setting that the game will take place in. Again, they’ve placed quite a lot of emphasis that players will be a part of this historical conflict for themselves. With that in mind, this game is setting itself up to be not just a fun game to play, but a way for people to learn about the victories and hardships that stemmed from the the War of Resistance.
