New Trailer For Symmetry Showcases Space Exploration Through Survival Management

The new trailer for survival management game Symmetry which was revealed today showcases the horror elements that come with deep space exploration. Players on a research vessel have crash-landed on a deserted planet, and are faced with the challenge of trying to get as much of their crew back home as possible.

Symmetry uses hyper-realism to paint the true stress of balancing space travel with the wellness of their crew. Players must maintain both their physical and mental health in order to perform tasks that are paramount to a safe escape. The gameplay is often timed, leading players to have to make important decisions in the moment without much thought. There will be an abundance of moral dilemmas throughout the journey that couple the technical mishaps. As time on the ship passes and players seem to be getting a hang of a steady escape, other oddities, such as “life-threatening supernatural activities” begin to surface.

The game utilizes Vector graphics and pastel colors which are not usually attributed to retro-futuristic space adventures. This design choice throughout the scenery helps create a sense of remoteness, builds upon an unrealistic atmosphere, and gives in to the true feeling of mystery found on this deserted planet.

The ability to replay Symmetry multiple times appears to be essential for understanding the mechanics, and ultimately leaving with a lively crew. The crew members are randomly assigned with different skills and backstories with each given playthrough. Players have a lot of autonomy on how to succeed as there are various strategies that can be used to beat the game.

Publisher IMGN Pro announced in the trailer that the full release of Symmetry is set for February 20. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
