The new ToeJam & Earl title , ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Grove, has unfortunately been delayed. Series creator Greg Johnson confirmed through a Kickstarter statement that the game will not be released until 2018. The game was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in 2015 when people donated more than $500,000 to bring the game to life.
Johnson stated developer HumaNature “tried super hard” to have the game ready within the current year as it was initially scheduled. However this will not be the case due to the fact that “game development is an inexact science,” in Johnson’s words. But fans should take some comfort from knowing that the development team is putting a lot of work into making this game a worthy entry in the series.
“It’s our priority to deliver the best, most solid game we can,” Johnson said. “To get the game across the finish line we need to push into 2018, but rest assured we are working our butts off and you guys are going to get an awesome game. Thanks for the continued support and keeping the faith! We’re working so hard over here and will have additional updates over the coming weeks and months.”
The crowdfunded game will be releasing on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and the Nintendo Switch. It will be published by none other than Adult Swim Games, a branch of the TV network. A new trailer for Back in the Groove was also released today and it’s a pretty humorous one, you can take a look at it below.
