Yes, you read that title right. There is a PS4 game called Mr. Massagy that you can download where the controller gets massage settings. I mean, the controller already vibrates at intense parts of games, but a full massage setting? That’s kinda out there. The game plays as a dating simulator of sorts, except it’s more like a Tinder date or hook up. You unlock these “massage settings” by going on Tinder dates with women.
Mr. Massagy has you use an app called Limber. You use the app to go on dates with girls and if you charm them well enough, the screen will go black, signaling that you and the woman hooked up. For each of those hook ups, you get two massage settings, one intense and one not so intense.
I guess the whole game itself begs the question of “will these ‘massage settings’ Mr. Massagy supposedly give us actually work?” (I’m currently trying to visualize myself using the PS4 controller to massage my lower back, but I’m not seeing it). Luckily, it doesn’t seem to work. After unlocking several of the “massage settings” Gita Jackson of Kotaku tried it on her back and said that they didn’t do well for her. She also said that the vibrations weren’t consistent:
The lower intensity settings don’t vibrate strongly enough to relax my shoulders. They pulse, going from a low rumble to a terrifying growl, but not in a consistent way. Sometimes, they stop vibrating altogether. On higher intensity settings, your controller will vibrate more consistently, but it still has long pauses that interfere with the soothing vibrations.
I previously wrote about another dating simulator called Date (almost) Anyone Simulator.
Mr. Massagy was released for the PC in December 2016. Famous Let’s Player on YouTuber Markiplier has a video of him playing the game on his channel. It’s actually an entire series, with multiple parts, so if you’re particularly lonely, maybe you should check it out. The first video is below.
