Season 5 of Fortnite: Chapter 2 is underway, after battling Galactus with several Marvel characters in a Marvel-themed season. Zero Point seems to pull out all the stops. This season is themed around hunters from all across realities. The season 5 battle pass trailer revealed The Mandalorian and Gragu (aka Baby Yoda) as the first big, major skin that can be unlocked right off the bat. Now, new leaks and a tease seems to indicate that Kratos from God of War will be the next major skin coming to the game. This was first revealed by popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX
More images on resetera seem to all but confirm the news, with a picture of the image on the PlayStation store and another image of the Chaos Blades as a pickaxe skin players can choose from. PlayStation also put more truth to this with another audio transmission which teased the new season before its official release. The transmission strongly hints that Kratos is getting transported to the island as Agent Jonesy, the character tasked with recruiting hunters from across all realities, mentions that the new recruit that he is picking up has “vanquished multiple gods with his bare hands in a fit of uncontrollable rage.”
For those who are unaware, Kratos, in the God of War series has all been about going up against and defeating the gods. Originally, he defeated the Greek pantheon of gods, but the latest game takes things to Norse mythology. That story continues in the next game that has been teased to come out next year.
As to how Kratos can be a part of Fortnite, earlier this year, Sony acquired majority stake in Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite with a $250 million investment. When that was announced, Chairman, President, and CEO of Sony Kenichiro Yoshida said “Through our investment, we will explore opportunities for further collaboration with Epic to delight and bring value to consumers and the industry at large, not only in games, but also across the rapidly evolving digital entertainment landscape.” It seems that Kratos in Fortnite is the first collaboration after this new deal. What other collaborations will happen? only time will tell.
