Today, PlayStation has announced that a new episode of State of Play will be coming on May 9. State of Play is PlayStation’s answer to the Nintendo Direct and Inside Xbox that covers everything from the world of PlayStation with updates and announcements. Here’s what they have to say about what’s in store for the next episode: “PlayStation Worldwide Studios will be showing off an extended look at MediEvil, as well as a first look at a new title. And we’ll have other updates and announcements from upcoming PS4 games
MediEvil was announced at back at the last PlayStation Experience in 2017. Similar to the N Sane Trilogy of Crash Bandicoot, MediEvil is a remake of the PlayStation 1 game. The game is a hack and slash adventure game that tasks you to protect the Kingdom of Gallowmere from the evil sorcerer Zarok. With an extended look coming on the State of Play, it’s very likely that the game gets a release date which was stated as 2019 in the trailer released on Halloween.
The first State of Play featured a focus on PlayStation VR titles with the announcement of Marvel’s Iron Man VR and new looks at Blood & Truth and No Man’s Sky which gets a VR mode with the upcoming Beyond update.
The first look at a new title could be a lot of things. It could and may very well be a new game not announced yet or it’s possible that it is the new Ubisoft game that was teased to be revealed on the same day.
One of the things that PlayStation made a note of was how long the upcoming episode will be. PlayStation has said that it’s going to be a quick show that will clock in at around 10 minutes. Another thing that PlayStation has said is in regards to the next-generation. PlayStation said “don’t expect any updates relating to our next-generation plans this time. Sorry!
While it may be disappointing to some, this makes sense after getting the news that the PlayStation 5 will be launching sometime after April 2020.
The next State of Play takes place on May 9, 2019, at 3:00 pm PT.
