New Star Wars Game Similar To Uncharted

During Star Wars Celebration, Amy Hennig, the writer of the first three Uncharted games and the writer for the next Star Wars game got the opportunity to announce new details on the game. She explained that she was going to apply similar tactics to what she did during her time at Naughty Dog. So we could expect to see some similarities between the games. Gamespot has her quoted saying that “the reason [we’re collaborating with Lucasfilm so closely is] we’re writing an original Star Wars story with new characters, locations, tech, creatures, you name it. All of it has to sit authentically alongside the stuff people know now,” so although this is something entirely new for the Star Wars universe we can expect to get that authentic Star Wars feel to it.

The way she seems to make games from the Uncharted games is to give it more of a cinematic feel than a video game feel. Which could explain why she made the statement that “the end goal is by the time the player has finished playing they feel like they really did play a Star Wars film.” A good thing about this is that what most people have in mind about the Star Wars Universe is from the movies so to put a player right into a universe like that would be a dream come true. She is going to bring that same little buoyancy and humor that the movies and Indiana Jones brings as those are the inspiration of the game.

She is putting in a lot of time and effort to make this game great. This is evident from her statements that “[Characters are] always outnumbered and outgunned, so they have to be smarter than their enemies, more improvisational, and work together. The challenge for us is to figure out how we enable that in gameplay so that the player really feels that experience, so that it’s not just part of the story but also the gameplay. That’s why you deconstruct and reconstruct.” And how she did some research to compare other Star Wars games to games in the action genre to determine the main difference. Through her research she found Story to be a major point in it, so we should expect to find a great story. While EA has been working on many Star Wars games, this one seems to have the potential to be better than the others since so much is going in to the story and characters including NPCs. Not many details have been released yet, so we do not know if this will be another action game or an open world one.
