Konami has released nearly 19 minutes of new gameplay from Silent Hill: Townfall, providing the clearest look yet at how the upcoming horror game combines exploration, environmental puzzles, stealth, and combat. With the game’s September 24, 2026 release date approaching, the footage gives prospective players a much better understanding of what they will actually be doing when they arrive in the game’s fictional Scottish setting.
The footage takes place in St. Amelia, a fictional fishing village in Fife, Scotland, and follows protagonist Simon as he explores the settlement. Unlike previous Silent Hill games, which have commonly centered their stories around locations in the United States or Japan, Townfall uses the Scottish village as the foundation for its horror. The newly released gameplay moves between ordinary locations in St. Amelia and the distorted Otherworld associated with the series. One of the most distinctive mechanics shown is the CRTV, an old television-like device that takes on a role similar to the radio featured in earlier Silent Hill games. Simon can use the device to uncover clues and determine where he needs to go next. The CRTV also has a practical purpose during encounters with monsters, allowing Simon to track enemies while attempting to remain hidden.
The footage also demonstrates that Townfall will not rely exclusively on traditional survival-horror combat. Much of the gameplay involves searching buildings for clues, solving environmental puzzles, and navigating the village while trying to avoid supernatural threats. The protagonist eventually encounters one of the game’s monsters, after which the gameplay becomes more focused on survival and combat. The second portion of the footage enters the Otherworld, where St. Amelia becomes dramatically distorted. Simon is shown using a pistol against enemies before continuing his exploration through a damaged tenement building. This transition between ordinary investigation and more direct horror encounters appears to be an important part of the game’s overall pacing.
With Silent Hill: Townfall scheduled to release on September 24 for PlayStation 5 and PC, the new gameplay arrives only weeks before launch. The footage suggests that Screen Burn Interactive is attempting to preserve the series’ emphasis on exploration and psychological horror while introducing new mechanics and a setting of its own. For longtime Silent Hill fans, the CRTV and Scottish setting may be the clearest signs yet that Townfall is attempting to establish its own identity rather than simply recreating the formula of earlier entries.
