New Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Trailer Shows Off New Demons and Maps

Atlus has recently graced us with a new trailer for the expanded edition of their latest entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei V, dubbed Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

Vengeance will be feature an expanded story to Shin Megami Tensei V’s base campaign, giving more time and care to the main game’s original cast as well as introducing some new characters, with some NPCs new and old showing up in the main character Nahobino’s party, no doubt they’ll get much more focus this time around, for the better.

Of course, the humans don’t usually take up slots in your party, Shin Megami Tensei is a series all about the demons, and demons come in this trailer aplenty, with several new and gnarly designs making their way into Vengeance, including a weird demon with a hand growing out of its mouth as well as a pretty cool looking demon with braids, an upgraded version of Fenrir named Wilder Fenrir, not to mention some out of left-field old favorites, like the Cockatrice. Nahobino, part demon themselves, also gets a new purple form in Vengeance as shown in the trailer. All in all, Vengeance boasts over 270 demons to command and fuse away as you see fit.

But the demons and the story aren’t the only overhauls, Vengeance’s new path allows you to explore a brand new map of ruined Tokyo via magic skating rails. It looks like Tokyo has been ravaged by the demonic forces of SMT and has been reduced to a pile of rubble with odd looking trees sprouting from the debris.

If you want to take Shin Megami Tensei V for another fresh spin then pre-orders for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance are live now, or you can wait for the expansion’s full release next month on June 24th, 2024. It will be available for Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, as well as PC.
