New Secret Just Discovered In Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! For The NES

It’s never too late to learn something new about a game, even if it’s thirty years old, which is the case for Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!.

After nearly thirty years, Reddit user midwesternhousewives discovered a new easter egg/secret for the popular retro title.

During the Piston Honda fight it’s possible to knock him out in one punch if you hit him right as he winds up for his special attack. But, as the redditor points out, what people don’t know is that there is a cue hidden in the background.

In the audience, in the first row off to the left there is a guy with a beard, and every so often he will duck. If you hit Honda right as the bearded guy ducks you knock him out, every time.

A little skeptical? Midwesternhousewives goes on to successfully pull off the trick in the second round to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. You can see the video below.

The same trick can also be used in the Bald Bull fight, which he also shows off in the video.

According to another redditor who confirmed the video, the bearded guy trick doesn’t work on the first fight with Bald Bull or Piston Honda.

In an edition of Iwata Asks, one of Punch-Out!!‘s designers Makoto Wada said that there were still secrets hidden in the old NES version of the game, so who knows what people will find next.
