Last night at The Game Awards, a new trailer for Rage 2 was revealed. The Open World trailer provided more details on the many things that players will be able to do in the game, like partake in chaotic Races or fighting wave after wave of enemies in Mutant Bash. This new trailer also revealed the release date of the game, coming May 14, 2019.
Rage 2 is all about the open-world mayhem that you can get up to. Bethesda revealed some of the things that you will be able to do on their website. ID Software Director Tim Willits says that there is never a dull moment. “Once you leave the starting area, the entire world is open, and you’ll encounter dynamic events everywhere you go. You may find a bandit outpost to clear out, or a race you want to run, or a convoy that needs destroying. Completing these types of activities will also help your relationship with some of the key characters in the main story. Everything you do will be rewarded.”
Races take place at a location called the Torn Plains Racetrack. You can win different cars on tracks riddled with jumps and hazards. If you come across someone in the open- world, you can challenge them to a quick race too. Convoys can be found throughout the world; they are massive, heavily-defended fortresses on wheels that are also protected by a number of different vehicles. Mutant Bash is a mode where you face off against wave after wave of enemies that get harder the further you go. Here, you can win prizes and try to achieve wasteland fame. Ark Hunting is another aspect of the core gameplay. Arks are the key to upgrades, with new gear and nanonite abilities. Some Arks will be found during missions, while others can be located by gathering intel.
These are just some of the main things that can distract you in Rage 2. You can also help out allies by accepting additional quests that will offer even more rewards, or save other people that are getting chased by bandits. Bounties will be available at some of the hub cities as well. Lastly, the Authority can strike you down at any time, as they are capable of dropping troopers and turrets that will be gunning for you. Tim Willits jokes, “I like to say that Rage 2 has a high ‘distraction factor’ when playing.” Rage 2 will be released May 14, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
