Several months after the announcement of New Pokémon Snap by Bandai Namco Studios, the official release date was announced today for April 30, 2021, in a trailer. This game will serve as a sequel to the original 1999 Nintendo 64 Pokémon Snap. Players will navigate the game by being a Pokémon photographer that travels within the Lental region. The Lental region contains many beautiful beaches, jungles, and deserts for players to see the striking game design while capturing pictures of the wild Pokémon.
Trainers will be assisting the regional Professor and his assistant, Professor Mirror and Rita, to build the PhotoDex and document the unique behaviors of these Pokémon. Trainers will be able to encounter the Illumina phenomenon, where the local Pokémon and vegetation can glow and is unique to the Lental region. Trainers will also be equipped with their own NEO-ONE, a pod to travel from each of the islands, as well as their camera. After pictures are taken of the Pokémon, Professor Mirror will be available to evaluate them and determine the size, pose, and placement of the Pokémon. As a trainer researches more, many different behaviors will be available that have never been seen before. Trainers will also get to see how the different types of Pokémon co-exist with each other in the wild.
Pokémon will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year and have announced that Katy Perry will be collaborating with the company for music production as well. The playlist will be called P25 and will feature many artists to be announced at later time. New Pokémon Snap is available for pre-order for the Nintendo Switch now for $59.99.
