Most people don’t go to Starbucks for the chance to catch Pokémon. People go to Starbucks for relatively overpriced, yet delicious coffee and for the free Wi-Fi for people to do work, much like what I am doing right now. However, people who haven’t already deleted the Pokémon Go app can soon go to Starbucks to catch new Pokémon, get items from Poké-stops and fight in Pokémon gyms. Not only do stores become Poké-stops and Pokémon Gyms, there will also be a Pokémon-themed frappuccino, which I most likely will try and get even though I have long deleted my Pokémon Go app. The Pokémon-themed frappuccino is called the Pokéball Frappuccino, which is a combination of the vanilla frappuccino and the strawberries and cream frappuccinno topped off with strawberry whipped cream.
Starbucks released a memo to all of its employees that “The world of Pokémon Go is about to expand with new Pokémon.” Reddit user alturissi highlights in the new memo that Pokémon Go is going to get a new upgrade on Thursday, December 8 and it seems likely that the new Pokémon will also be a part of the update.
Data miners recently uncovered that the Pokémon Go app has a file for the Johto region Pokémon, which coincide with Pokémon Silver, Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Crystal, Pokémon SoulSilver and Pokémon HeartGold respectively. Thoe Johto Pokémon aren’t yet in the wild and it still remains to be seen if those 100 Pokémon will be the new Pokémon released in the upgrade.
Ditto, a Pokémon breeder’s favorite Pokémon, was the most recent Pokémon added to the game, along with the renewal of the Nearby feature that showed which Pokémon could be caught in the area. There is also a previously announced link between Pokémon Go and Pokémon Sun and Moon to be released in the future.
Pokémon Go is the first Pokémon mobile phone game and recently won the award for best Mobile Game in the 2016 Game Awards. It can still be downloaded for free on Android and iOS.
