As of today, two of the new Overwatch League franchises have announced their names and color schemes, according to press releases from the teams. Introducing the Atlanta Reign and the Toronto Defiant! The Atlanta Reign was the first to claim their moniker and colors, revealing a sneak peek at the team’s Zarya and Lucio skins via Twitter. The official colors are light grey, red, and charcoal grey, lending a royal color scheme to a fitting logo. The logo features a red phoenix rising, referencing Atlanta’s city seal within a royal crest.
The official press release, which shares further details of the team name choice, quotes Paul Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Atlanta Esports Ventures, on the naming decision. “We said from the beginning that we are building to compete. We chose a name that reflects that intention.”

The other team to announce its brand was the Toronto Defiant. The colors chosen for the Defiant are red, black, white, and grey. According to their official press release, “the team name, Defiant, was picked to represent the strength, character, and resiliency of Toronto.” Their logo, taking on the popular practice of using the first letter of the city and team name, will be the letter T surrounded partially by the letter D in red and black. Character skins for Sombra and Zenyatta have also been revealed via a Twitter post.

With only two of the eight new teams cementing their identities, the remaining six can be expected to release their names and colors in similar fashion before the new season starts in February. The Overwatch community waits in anticipation for the rest of the names they will be cheering for and the colors they will be donning over the course of season two.
