As of today, two of the new Overwatch League franchises have announced their names and color schemes, according to press releases from the teams. Introducing the Atlanta Reign and the Toronto Defiant! The Atlanta Reign was the first to claim their moniker and colors, revealing a sneak peek at the team’s Zarya and Lucio skins via Twitter. The official colors are light grey, red, and charcoal grey, lending a royal color scheme to a fitting logo. The logo features a red phoenix rising, referencing Atlanta’s city seal within a royal crest.
The official press release, which shares further details of the team name choice, quotes Paul Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Atlanta Esports Ventures, on the naming decision. “We said from the beginning that we are building to compete. We chose a name that reflects that intention.”
