We know the new Overwatch character is named Orisa. Despite knowing her name, she is not currently available to play in the full game. You can, however, use her in the Public Test Realm, according to Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan. He shared that information on an official Overwatch forum page, including a very vague time frame for Orisa’s release into the full game. His full post reads the following:
Hi. Wow, what a thread! Just to clarify, we’re leaving Orisa on the PTR for a little while. We’re getting great feedback and fixing a lot of issues. I know this feels a little longer than other PTR periods, but we think it will be for the better. We know how anxious you all are to have Orisa join your ranks… and she will soon… but most likely she will go live later in the month rather than this early.
It was evident that there needed to be a fix on Orisa’s abilities. In an update released today, there is a decrease magazine load on her weapon, the Fusion Driver and there is also an increased cost of her Ultimate. Fusion Driver’s magazine capacity has been decreased to 150 from 200. The cost of her Ultimate, Supercharged, has increased by 15%.
Fusion Driver is an automatic cannon that deals constant damage but slows her movement speed. The alternate fire is Halt, which launches a charge that she can detonate to slow enemies and pull them towards the explosion.
Orisa is tank class character who is capable of buffing and defending her teammates. One of her Abilities is Fortify which reduces the damage she takes and makes her immune to action-pairing effects. The other is Protective Barrier, which is barrier she can use to block enemy attacks.
Her Ultimate, Supercharged, launches a device that buffs damage done by any teammates in its line of sight. However, the device can be destroyed by enemies.
