New Overwatch 2 Hero “Juno” Revealed, Playable This Weekend For Free

Blizzard Entertainment has announced the next character coming to their hit first-person hero shooter, an astronaut-themed support hero named Juno. The announcement of this new playable character, along with a free trial run of the hero this weekend, was announced in a new gameplay trailer released earlier today. The trailer can be watched right here:

Juno is a support-class hero with healing and speed-increasing abilities, and has a wide arsenal of attacks and abilities. Her primary fire mode is the Mediblaster, a burst-fire SMG that heals allies and damages enemies. Her secondary fire mode is shooting Pulsar Torpedoes, which lock-on to targets and fire homing projectiles that heal allies and damage enemies. Juno’s ultimate ability is the Orbital Ray, a laser beam from space that moves forward while healing allies and boosting their damage output.

Juno’s abilities are movement-focused, increasing speed and traversal ability for her and her allies. Juno’s passive ability comes in the form of Martian Overboots, which allow her to double jump and hover in the air with the jump button. She has two other abilities: Glide Boost, which causes her to glide horizontally at an increased speed when activated, and the Hyper Ring, which when deployed increases the movement speed of allies that pass through it.

From July 19 to July 21, players can temporarily give Juno a try in matchmaking for free. After that, Juno will not be available to play until she is officially released on August 20 alongside the launch of Overwatch 2’s Season 12. Details on the character’s backstory are still pretty minimal, but we do know that she is originally from Mars. The new character comes right on the heels of Overwatch 2’s newest major licensed crossover event, bringing popular characters from the Transformers franchise into the game by means of characters skins. Players can unlock new cosmetics like the Bumblebee skin for Bastion in Overwatch 2 for a limited time by purchasing the Transformers Mega Bundle in the Overwatch Shop.
