New Nintendo Earnings Release Reveal Nintendo Switch Sales Have Passed 50 Million

Today, Nintendo has released its latest nine months earnings release and it reveals new sales figures as of December 31, 2019. Nintendo Switch sales have crossed 50 million which means that the Nintendo Switch has passed the sales figures of the Super Nintendo at 49.10 million with 52.48 million. The new earnings release also shares new sales figures for several Nintendo Switch titles.

During Nintendo’s last quarter, the Nintendo Switch sold 10.8 million units. Through 2020, Nintendo’s consolidated net sales reach 3.8 million. 77.8% of sales through Nintendo’s third-quarter occurred outside of Japan. 28.6% of total sales were digital which is an over 5% jump from 21.8% of digital sales that happened last year.

Breaking down the various Nintendo Switch models, the original model made up 47.3 million units of the 52.48 million and the Nintendo Switch Lite sold 5.19 million units.

With regard to game sales, Super Mario Maker 2 sold 5.04 million units, Super Mario Party sold 9.12 million units, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe sold 5.85 million units, Pokemon: Sword & Shield sold 16.06 million, Astral Chain sold 1.03 million, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order sold 1.02 million units.

The top games sold for the Nintendo Switch are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 22.96 million, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 17.68 million, Super Mario Odyssey at 16.59 million, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 16.34 million units sold.

The earnings release also shares a list of upcoming Nintendo Switch titles for 2020 with some games with known release dates including Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX and Animal Crossing: New Horizons and others that do not have a release date.
