Not long ago, it was confirmed by developer DONTNOD that they are working on a follow-up to their popular game Life is Strange. Now, it seems that more information has leaked about the future of the Life is Strange franchise.
Kotaku reports that a relatively unknown developer based in Denver, Colorado previously called Idol Minds has recently changed their name to Deck Nine Games. In the press release in which Deck Nine revealed their new name, they also stated the following:
Deck Nine have signed a partnership deal with a leading AAA videogame publisher and are deep in development on their first title, a brand new addition to a critically acclaimed franchise. More info will be revealed about this narrative adventure game at E3 in June.
Later, images were apparently found on Deck Nine’s website that appear to feature Chloe, one of the main characters in Life is Strange, as well as Blackwell Academy, the school in which Max, the protagonist, attends. You can view the images by clicking here.
Due to the fact that these images seem to show Chloe as the teenage delinquent she became after Max initially moved away, but before she dyed her hair the blue we see in Life is Strange once Max moves back, many are speculating that this game will act as a prequel to the original Life is Strange, taking place in between Max’s move and her return. It is also being speculated that the second girl we see in these images is Rachel Amber, Chloe’s friend who disappeared before the events of Life is Strange.
It is unclear if Deck Nine and DONTNOD are working together on this new game or if the supposed prequel Deck Nine may be working on is separate from the possible sequel DONTNOD is making. However, as stated in Deck Nine’s press release, we are sure to get more information on the game they are working on, whether it actually be a Life is Strange prequel or not, at this year’s E3 in a few days.
