In 2015, developer DONTNOD created the emotional, episodic, teenage drama that is Life is Strange. The game follows a teenager named Max Caulfield, who moves back to her hometown to attend a prestigious art school and suddenly discovers that she has the power to rewind time, albeit only a few moments at a time. Recently, DONTNOD uploaded a video with some new information about what the company has been doing since Life is Strange.
The company started off by thanking their fans and revealing that Life is Strange has sold over three million copies in the little over two years it has been out. They then moved on to the main announcement, which is that since last year they have been working on a “new Life is Strange game.” Their wording is interesting because, while the new game will obviously be a part of the Life is Strange franchise, we don’t know if it will be a sequel, a prequel or a whole new plot with different characters simply set in the same canonical universe as the first game. No other details about the game were given, but the developers state that they can’t wait to share more information when the time comes.
If you haven’t played Life is Strange, you don’t have much of an excuse to not try it out, seeing as the game is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC, and that the first episode of the game is free. It’s probably safe to assume that when the new game comes out it will likely be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. However, if speculation about the PlayStation 5 coming out next year is correct, then the game may be available on the next generation of home consoles as well.
