New Interactive Drama As Dusk Falls Announced At the Xbox Games Showcase

Today, at the Xbox Games Showcase, new studio INTERIOR/NIGHT revealed the first look at the studio’s debut title As Dusk Falls. The game is about two families whose trajectories collide in the Arizona desert in 1999. One of the more interesting things about the game besides the art style is that the story will start in the middle instead of the beginning. Then, as the story continues, multiple points of view will encompass a thirty-year span with a story that explores the past, present, and future of a single dramatic night.

Talking about the new studio, Caroline Marchal, Founder and Creative Director at INTERIOR/NIGHT said “I want to tell relatable, inclusive stories, grounded in real life, that can appeal to everyone. I’d like you, your partner, or your friends who may never even play video games to discover how thrilling and rewarding it can be to experience the journey of a broad cast of characters.”

Talking about interactive stories, Marchal said “the fascinating thing about interactive stories is that they go even further than traditional, linear stories; they give us insights about ourselves. When we play as a character, we experience their emotions and dilemmas from their point of view. But the choices we make for them remain very personal. By stepping into someone else’s shoes, we understand them better, and we learn about our true nature in the process. We grow, thanks to empathy.”

While no official gameplay was revealed, the studio is comprised of former Quantic Dream developers and since this is an interactive narrative experience, you can probably expect it to play like Detriot: Become Human, Life is Strange, and games that were developed by Telltale Games.
