According to an unnamed source from Gaming INTEL, Nintendo will be hosting Nintendo Direct live stream on April 11. One Direct in February was very Poké-centric, announcing the next generation of Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch: Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Another pair of Directs around the same time focused on upcoming indie titles for Switch, and new Fire Emblem title called Three Houses as well as a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. According to Gaming INTEL’s article, “When taking into consideration Gaming INTEL’s sources track record of correctly predicting several of the previous Nintendo Directs, fans should be a little more confident on this one in particular.” While the date is still unconfirmed by Nintendo, it does track with another leak article posted by Gaming INTEL last month claiming that a Nintendo Direct was indeed scheduled for April.
Speculation has already begun as to what Nintendo has in store for the fans. Everything from Smash Ultimate news, potentially the long-awaited introduction of Joker from Persona 5, possibly gameplay from the upcoming Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing for the Switch, and even an epic sendoff for fan-favorite President of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime, who announced his retirement in February. Other notable inclusions could be official confirmation on new Switch titles reportedly leaked by Best Buy including Persona 5, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Unfortunately, it’s all guesswork at this point with Nintendo still tight-lipped about even the occurrence of a Direct this April. Feel free to let your imagination run wild; the best thing about Nintendo Direct is even if the game you’re really looking forward to isn’t included, another unexpected one is right there in the lineup to be excited about.
Should the rumor hold true, Nintendo is expected to make an official announcement regarding the Direct a few days before April 11, so keep an eye out for that. All that’s left for us to do is to wait and see. Come on, Nintendo, my body is ready.
