Digimon Con 2023 has come and gone. But the festivities aren’t over just yet. Namco Bandai is scheduled to have a Digimon World: Next Order port release for the Nintendo Switch and Steam later this month. The producer for the game, Takahiro Yokota had a video message to share with fans. He shared details about the game’s features, what to expect, as well as some improvements to the ports that players will experience in the game compared to its original release.
Yokota’s video started by explaining this upcoming release is the port release of the game for Nintendo Switch and Steam. He states this game follows the world series where players will raise their Digimon, explore the digital world, and battle enemy Digimon. In this game, players will be able to raise two Digimon partners at a time. This will allow for aid in combat as well as growth as they are being raised into different forms.
While the game is already released on other platforms, Yokota tells fans about new features that were added to this port. He tells viewers that a new difficulty level has been added. There will be a beginner mode for players to select. This will let people who haven’t played a game in the series before enjoy the story of the game without worrying about dealing with any difficult mechanics of the game they might encounter. The second new feature added to the port is the ability to run. Instead of walking at the default speed of the previous releases, players can now move 1.4x the normal speed so it makes it easier to travel across large areas of the map.
Yokota breaks down the mechanics on how raising Digimon will work. Players will select two out of the ten digi eggs that are available to pick. On the selection menu, people will be able to see the evolution line of the digi egg, giving players the chance to plan what sort of Digimon they would like to raise. Digimon have a natural lifespan int his game, once they pass away, they reincarnate into digi eggs. The new digi eggs will contain some of their stats and information from their previous life. It is advised that after a Digimon hatches from an egg, it is best to evolve it one more time before leaving the training grounds and exploring the world.
When it comes to training Digimon, they become fatigue overtime, so it’s important to reset in the beds by the training grounds. Players will have to feed their Digimon and sometimes they might not want to eat. They will need to be scolded in order for them to obey commands. You can receive a piece of meat once per day as well as gather foods as reward drops for defeating enemies. When it comes to latter evolutions, players must meet the conditions in order to get the evolutions they prefer.
The early version of the game is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The updated version of Digimon World: Next Order is scheduled to be released for the Nintendo Switch and PC on February 22, 2023.
