First announced at the Game Awards 2022, Immortals of Aveumis highly anticipated EA Originals title. An official reveal trailer was released last week, which shared details about the game’s story, gameplay, and release date. Now, recent information regarding the latter has emerged.
Last morning, developers EA Originals and Ascendant Studios released a gameplay trailer on the Immortals of Aveum social media accounts. Compared to last week’s trailer, this one presented an in-depth look into Immortals of Aveum‘s gameplay and how the first-person shooter mechanics will work.
The trailer opens with a “flashing images” warning before showing off game engine footage without UI elements. The footage displays the first-person perspective of Jak, the game’s protagonist. The combat revolves around the use of his magical sigil. The primary sigil attack seems to be Lucian Shrikebolt, which fires blue energy blasts at a moderate rate. His sigil can also switch to other attacks, as indicated by Jak holding up an energy cube in his right hand. These attacks can include Oremic Breachfire, red blasts that deal higher damage at a slower firing rate, and Lucian Stormshards, a barrage of rapid-fire green blasts. There are potentially more attacks that could be used to customize sigil loadouts.
Jak employs additional magical abilities in his left hand. For instance, he can summon a magic shield that blocks ranged enemy attacks. He also carries a blue energy whip, which can be used to pull enemies closer or grapple to higher places. Further, Jak can send out a red energy wave that can negatively afflict enemies. He also possesses left-handed weapons like the Torpid Vial which launches a damaging green substance, and the Red Lens, a weapon firing a red energy beam.
The trailer provides a brief glance at the Gear Menu. Here, players can customize equipment such as sigils, totems, rings, and bracers. The menu displays two types of consumables: health crystals and mana crystals. The menu also features various currencies, ranging from gold to magical essences. Further, it references a Magnus Rank, which could be a part of the game’s progression system.
Additional details are to be announced. Immortals of Aveum is set to launch on July 20th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
