“The Galactic War waits for no one. Are you ready, Helldiver?” Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 continues to truck along as its dedicated player base continues to deliver managed democracy straight to the heads of whatever alien threat they come across. Arrowhead has rewarded its community with the new Control Group Warbond, releasing July 17th, 2025, with all sorts of goodies they can use to kill robots, bugs, or bugs in robot armor.
For me personally, the highlight of the bond is the Plas-45 Epoch support weapon. Plasma weapons in Helldivers are very cool and look awesome but aesthetically and when they fire, but unlike their laser counterparts they never had a support weapon to really deliver the big booms to the enemy. Though speaking of lasers, the Warbond also delivers on that front, as an experimental laser turret will also be available; with potentially unlimited ammo but no restrictions on its heat sink, this turret can mow down an unlimited number of enemies… until it overheads and explodes, killing you.
On the subject of killing you, the dark energy plot of Helldivers 2 received an update, as Super Earth’s crack team of scientists have finally miniaturized the technology that collapsed a planet into a black hole and strapped it to your back in the form of the Warp Pack, which lets you teleport sometimes and may also probably kill you. This on top of a new primary weapon, grenade type, and armors are coming in the Control Group Warbond.
Helldivers 2 started off incredibly strong during its release last February, but hit a significant rough patch that many thought would kill the game off for good. Thankfully, Arrowhead and the Helldivers community seem to have smoothed things over and are delivering some quality content updates at a regular pace for their loyal playerbase, and with the announcement that Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox on August 26th, 2025, many more Helldivers will be joining the battle for democracy.
