Developer Sucker Punch has released a new story-focused trailer today for the upcoming Ghost of Yotei. The trailer, “The Onryō’s List,” provides a little context for new protagonist Atsu’s quest for revenge and vengeance as she takes down a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six.
Ghost of Yōtei comes to PS5 on October 2.

Sixteen years ago, in the heart of Ezo (Hokkaido in present day), the Yōtei Six killed her family and left her for dead, pinning her to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home. But Atsu survived. Over the years, she learned to fight, to kill, and to hunt. After years away, she returns home with a list of six names that make up the Yōtei Six: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. One by one, Atsu will hunt them down to avenge her family, armed with the same katana she was pinned with all those years ago.
As she returns and explores Ezo, Atsu will meet unlikely allies and forge connections that help give her a new sense of purpose, finding that there is more to her journey than just revenge.
Sucker Punch says that they have built and evolved the way players will explore the open world in Ghost of Yōtei, offering more freedom and variety than in Ghost of Tsushima. Players will choose which leads to follow as they pick a member of the Yōtei Six to track. Atsu will also be able to track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei and learn new skills. Ezo is wild, dangerous as it is beautiful. Players will find unexpected dangers and peaceful reprieves (including some returning ftom Tsushima). Players will be able to build a campfire this time around anywhere in the open world for a rest under the stars.
The new trailer showcased some of the gorgeous scenery of Ezo as well as a handful of Atsu’s new weapons, a few of her allies, and even a new gameplay mechanic that will allow you to glimpse Atsu’s past and understand everything that was taken from her.
