One of the special announcements at the 2019 Game Awards was the new teaser footage for Sucker Punch’s upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima. This reveal is a much longer follow up to the teaser trailer shown for Ghost of Tsushima for Sony’s State of Play earlier this week. The new trailer shows off “The Ghost,” a samurai named Jin Sakai and the mysterious protagonist of the upcoming game, taking off his battle mask to reveal the man underneath.
Footage of this game has been slow to release since it was first announced at E3 2018. Check out the official “The Ghost Trailer” below.
According to the trailer description on the PlayStation YouTube channel, Ghost of Tsushima players will “set aside samurai traditions and forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, as [they] embark on a vast open-world adventure and wage an unconventional war fo the freedom of Tsushima.” Sounds like The Ghost will make use of a lot of interesting and resourceful ninja-style tricks to overcome the Mongolian invaders of Tsushima in this third-person perspective action title. The new trailer also showed off very impressive visuals that featured The Ghost mounted on horseback in a number of Japanese environments reminiscent of Feudal Japan in the 13th century.
The new footage was accompanied by a full orchestra, performing live and creating an immersive environment for the game footage by blowing beautiful gold-colored leaves into the audience. The orchestra used traditional instruments and made the reveal something special and dramatic.
