New Gameplay Footage of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Revealed at PAX East 2015

MachineGames’ Wolfenstein: The New Order was one of mxdwn Games’ favorite releases of 2014, and today at PAX East 2015, new footage of an upcoming prequel DLC, The Old Blood, was revealed.

Eurogamer have just uploaded a twenty minute gameplay demo shown at PAX East, which you can see below:

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will take place before the events of The New Order. Players will once again take on the role of B.J. Blazkowicz, this time in 1946. In this alternate timeline, the Nazis are on the verge of winning the second World War, and so B.J. must embark on a last ditch effort to turn the tide.

The DLC will be split into two missions. The first one, Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves, will see players infiltrate the titular Castle Wolfenstein in order to find the location of primary antagonist General Deathshead’s base of operations.

The second mission, The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs, will see players explore the city of Wulfburg and encounter a Nazi archaeologist who has discovered some dangerous supernatural artifacts.

Jerk Gustafsson, producer at the Sweden-based MachineGames, had this to say about The Old Blood:

Diving back into the world of Wolfenstein has really been fun for us. We’ve enjoyed exploring the events leading up to The New Order. We think fans will really enjoy the story, all the action and, of course, jumping back into the combat with new weapons.

Released on May 20, 2014, Wolfenstein: The New Order was highly praised for its well crafted singleplayer-only content. It was nominated for several Game of the Year awards, such as from Electronic Gaming Monthly, Polygon, Game Informer, and GamesRadar. We at mxdwn Games took particular joy from the developer’s bold decision to infuse old-school twitch-based shooter mechanics with modern storytelling techniques.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be a standalone release and will be priced at $20. It will be released this coming May 5 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Kerwin Tsang: Kerwin has been a gamer for almost as long as he's been alive, ever since he received a Sega Mega Drive in 1989. Having graduated to the upper echelons of PC gaming, he now boasts a number of major gaming accomplishments. These include getting through all three Deus Ex games without killing anyone, clocking in over 700 hours of gameplay time in Skyrim without ever finishing the main story, and nearly shattering every bone in his hand from punching the wall when his soldiers in XCOM missed a shot with 95% chance to hit.
