December 23 marks the beginning of the holiday event for GTA Online. There is a new game mode, some Christmas DLC and even a change in visuals; snow will begin to fall. The new game mode, the DLC and new weather event will be available until Monday, December 26, according a Rockstar Games blog post.
The new game mode is a type of Adversary mode called Juggernaut. Being referenced as an “all-out brawl for dominance,” two players suit up in heavy armor and a chaingun to become a behemoth.
“In this brutal war between two opposing teams, the Juggernaut is your great asset and your only liability,” a line from its official description reads. Players will need to flank, swarm and execute the opposing Juggernaut while protecting their own. If neither team can successfully take down the opposing team’s Juggernaut, everyone becomes a juggernaut and the first kill decides the winner, so it’s important that you eliminate an opponent as soon as possible. You can earn double GTA$ and RP in the game mode through January 1.
More content includes a custom version of the Pfister Comet that’s been morphed into a “gritty urban dragster suitable for the rough-riding drifters of Los Santos.” The vehicle is at Benny’s Original Motor Works.
Snow is falling and will continue to fall until December 26. You can participate in snowball fights again; press the left d-pad to collect up to nine snowballs.
Rockstar will also hand out presents to players who log in on Christmas Day. Those players will receive a unicorn mask and pajamas, shown below and either the White Graphic or Blue Check items.
They will receive ammo for the following items:
- Fireworks Launcher plus 10 Fireworks rockets
- Carbine Rifle plus 200 rounds of ammo
- Marksman Rifle plus 200 rounds of ammo
- Basic Knuckle Dusters
- 25 Sticky Bombs
- 25 Grenades
- Five Proximity Mines
- Five Molotovs
- Full Snacks
- Full Armor
Players who log in on December 23, 24 or 26 will receive the Fireworks Launcher and 10 rockets, as well as a t-shirt. On December 24 and 25, players will receive a 50% bonus for participating in Vehicle Exports, Biker Business Sales and Special Cargo Deliveries.
