For Honor is a hero-based fighting game that revolves around character movesets, strategy, and reading opponents. In the early years of the game, heroes were split up into three factions: the Knights, the Vikings, and the Samurai, with the Wu Lin and the Outlanders being later additions to the roster. The game is based on the “what-if” question of which warriors from different times and cultures would beat each other in a fight. And, with the introduction of the newest hero, the Samurai faction are welcoming another warrior into their ranks.
For Honor has been around for over ten years now, and has been alive and active since 2016. A decade later, Ubisoft has has just revealed the latest hero that they’ll be adding to the roster via a Youtube video uploaded by IGN. With this new hero being available to players on July 23rd, Ubisoft uploaded the cinematic trailer to show off the new hero and to get players excited. The cinematic reveal trailer reveals quite a lot about the new hero already, including one of the largest aspects of every hero in For Honor, her weapon of choice.
The Arakure wields a pair of tonfas into battle, and judging by how this trailer portrays her, she knows how to use them. Moreover, the Arakure also looks to be quite the imposing fighter to go against, judging by how she taunts and intimidates her opponent. The largest parts of the heroes of For Honor besides their weapons is the personalities they display with them, and this new hero has certainly given a glimpse of it to the players.
The reveal trailer also came with some additional information in the video’s description. On July 16th at 12pm Eastern Time, the For Honor developers will showcase more about the Arakure in a livestream they call the Warrior’s Den. These streams typically introduce new information about an upcoming hero, including concept art, animations, and the moveset of the hero, which many fans will play close attention to. Essentially, the Warrior’s Den is meant to show the work and time the developers have put into the game.
For Honor players will certainly be waiting on the edge of their seats as July 16th and 23rd approach, as they’ve debated over the years which heroes will be introduced. The idea of a fist-fighting hero has been thrown around the community, but hasn’t come to fruition until today. Many players are wondering how her moves will work and how she’ll fit into the game, but the only thing that they can do is wait until July 16th to see for themselves.
