Treyarch released news of an upcoming zombie map for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The developer announced the news on their official blog a day before 115 Day. The map named “Firebase Z” will be free to all players of the game. The next installment in the Dark Aether storyline will be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on February 4th.
115 Day (or January 15th) is an important day to the Zombies mode in the Call of Duty franchise. According to Forbes, “this is a reference to Element 115 aka Moscovium, which has played a big part in the Zombies storyline.” On this day, Treyarch shares previews to upcoming zombie modes, showcases fan creations, and gives “2XP to top it all off.” Although Treyarch announced news of the map early, the developer provided more “Firebase Z” details on the special occasion.
The new location will be set in the jungles of Vietnam, with all new characters, gameplay mechanics, enemies and a new Wonder Weapon. The 115 Day Call of Duty blog post explains new narrative details on “Firebase Z”. The new mode will continue the Dark Aether storyline.
“With the destruction of the “Projekt Endstation” anomaly site in their wake, Grigori Weaver and the agents of Requiem turn their attention to a far greater threat: a new Dark Aether outbreak site in Southeast Asia. After learning Agent Maxis has been captured by Omega Group, Weaver deploys Requiem’s strike team to infiltrate the facility where she’s reportedly being held: Outpost 25. Against all odds, Requiem forces will infiltrate the outpost to rendezvous with an Omega Group informant, save Samantha Maxis, and above all else, survive the new horrors that await them in this abandoned research facility.”
More details on “Firebase Z” and even a launch trailer will be released in the upcoming weeks until its release on February 4th.
