New Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset Trailer Features the Psijic Order

Announced this past March, the next Elder Scrolls Online expansion, Summerset, will be coming early next month. In anticipation of its arrival, Bethesda released a new trailer that focuses on one of Tamriel’s most mysterious organizations: the Psijic Order. “Reclusive and mysterious, the Psijic Order vanished from Tamriel centuries ago, taking their ancient wisdom with them,” the trailer’s introduction reads. “Now, in The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset, the Order has returned.”

If you’re a long-time Elder Scrolls fan, you’ve likely heard of the Psijic Order before—though this is the first time players will be able to truly unravel their deep secrets. The Order disappeared from Tamriel about 350 years ago when their island base and city, Artaeum, vanished. It’s never been made clear what happened to the island, and presumably this expansion will provide those answers at last. By the start of the Summerset expansion, Psijic agents have returned to the area for reasons unknown, though it is suspected that their recurrence is related to the Daedra that threaten Summerset Isle. Collaboration with the Psijic Order means players will able be able to explore Artaeum, including the infamous Ceporah Tower, in which Psijics study and refine their skills.

Along with the ability to work with the Psijic Order, player characters both new and existing will be able to access a new skill line built specifically around the Order. Time manipulation was a long-time subject of study within the Order, and that course of study will be reflected in the skill tree. New unique abilities include slowing and freezing enemies, rewinding time, and utilizing meditation to restore health.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset comes to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 5, 2018. PC and Mac users will also be able to gain early access for the expansion starting May 21.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
